Training of LASUTH Ethical Committee
 
The Ethical Committee of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital under the chairmanship of Prof. Olayinka Ogundipe and the Chief Medical Director Dr. O.B. Olugbile hosted the West African Bioethics Training Program to a 3 day ethics training for members of the ethical committee and staff of the institution. The training took place from 4th to 6th March, 2008 at the Dental Seminar room of LASUTH. The training had in attendance 19 participants (10 female and 9 male)
 
The training kicked off with a lecture on History of Research Ethics by Dr. Adebayo Adejumo faculty member West African Bioethics Training Program. After the first lecture the participants took a pretest to ascertain their knowledge of health research ethics. Professor Clement Adebamowo, Chairman National health Research Ethics Committee and Director West African Bioethics Training Program delivered the second lecture at the training on Legal, Philosophical and moral foundations of modern research Bioethics. The third resource person for the training was Dr. Ajuwon also member of West African Bioethics Training Program who delivered a lecture on Voluntariness and Vulnerability. The participants asked several questions during the training to clear their opinion about research, rights of participants in research and how to carry out informed consent process.
